For a French manicure you will need:

• white varnish for the free edge of the nail plate;
• transparent base;
• a thin brush for drawing lines or templates-stickers on nails;
• pastel varnish for the inside of the nail plate.

Sequencing:

• First you need to prepare the nail plate - file it down to give it the desired shape, and cut the cuticle. Next, cover the nails with a base and wait for it to dry;
• On top of the base, you need to apply a colored varnish, which will be the base. For a denser color, the coating is applied in 2-3 layers. Then you should wait for it to dry;
• Once the varnish is dry, you can paint the white tips. For this, it is better to take a thin brush or a stencil. After drawing the lines, you need to wait again for them to dry;
• To fix the result, cover the nails with a transparent varnish and wait until completely dry.

Recommendations:

1. The regrown part of the nail plate cannot be less than 3 mm. If it is absent, or present, but of insufficient length, then the French manicure will look inharmonious.
2. The white line at the tips of the nails should not be thick, otherwise it will visually seem that the nail plate is even smaller than it actually is. Better to make a strip 1.5-2 mm thick.
3. An interesting solution would be a combination of matte and glossy varnishes. If there is a glossy surface at the tip and matte on the rest of the nail plate, the nail will visually lengthen.

How to make a manicure with gel polish, shellac on very short nails

A manicure for very short nails can be done not only with a simple varnish, but also with gel varnish. It will give the nails strength, which will allow the nail to grow to the desired length in the future.

To cover the nail plate with gel polish, you need to purchase:

• a 9 or 36 watt lamp;
• base and top (rubber is best);
• colored coatings;
• buff;
• orange stick for manicure;
• lint-free napkins;
• cuticle oil;
• degreaser;
• a nail file;
• cuticle scissors or nippers;
• gel polish remover or special apparatus;
• foil (if you need to remove it).

Stages of manicure with applying gel polish:

1. Give the desired shape to the nails.
2. Soften the cuticle and trim it.
3. Treat the nail plates with a buff, without cutting off their layers.
4. Wipe the nails of one hand with a degreaser applied to a tissue or cotton pad.
5. Apply a thin layer of base on one hand.
6. Dry the base in the lamp for 1 minute.
7. Apply a thin layer of colored gel polish to the base. If polish gets on your fingers, it can be easily removed with an orange stick.
8. Dry the colored varnish in the lamp for 30 seconds.
9. Repeat the application and drying of the color gel polish 2-3 times in order for the color to become denser and more saturated.
10. Cover your nails with top. The layer can be made slightly thicker to flatten the nail plate. If the nails are a little overgrown, then the end of the nail must also be treated with a top. If the nails are very short, then it is better not to apply anything to the end, as there is a risk that the gel polish will end up on the skin, which looks unpresentable.
11. After covering the nails with a top, place your hand in the lamp and dry the layers for another 2 minutes.
12. Rubber tops allow you to finish your manicure after drying your nails. If the top is not rubber, then the sticky layer must be removed from it. This is done using a degreaser - apply a few drops of the product to a cotton pad or napkin and treat each nail.
13. After finishing work on one hand, you need to repeat all the same on the nails of the other hand.

Lunar

On very short nails, you can do not only a classic manicure, but also a lunar one. The highlighted hole design looks neat and modern. There are several technologies for its creation.

Option number 1:

1. Apply a transparent base to the nails, dry it.
2. With a very thin brush, apply the contour of the hole to the nail, closer to the cuticle.
3. Paint over the hole twice, dry each layer.
4. Paint over the rest of the nail with a different color, repeating the procedure twice. Dry each layer.
5. Cover each nail with a top, while sealing the ends. Dry the top.

Option number 2:

1. Apply base to nails and dry.
2. Cover nails with gel polish around the entire perimeter in 2-3 layers. Dry each layer well.
3. On the dried gel polish with a thin brush, draw the contour of the hole and paint over it in such a way that the color is even, without gaps and transparent places. Dry your nails.
4. Cover the cover with a top, sealing the ends. Dry your nails in a lamp for 2 minutes.

Option number 3:

1. Cover the nails with a base, dry them.
2. Apply 2 layers of gel polish to nails. Dry each layer in a lamp for 30-60 seconds.
3. Glue a stencil for holes on the coating, draw the hole in a different color. Dry in a lamp.
4. Fix the cover with a top by drying it in a lamp for 1-2 minutes.

Lunar manicure for very short nails can be supplemented with rhinestones at the base of the nail, white or colored dots that accentuate the border of the hole and the main part of the nail plate, highlight the hole with glitter varnish or draw it not in a semicircle, but in a triangle.

Velvet

To perform a velvet manicure, you will need powder (flock), which makes the nails velvety. This coating lasts no more than 2 days, but it looks interesting, so it can be applied before any events.

Sequence:

1. Cover the nails with a thin layer of the base, dry it in a lamp.
2. Gel polish is applied to the nail plate, in color close to the shade of flock. Dry the first layer.
3. Apply gel polish a second time and pour a thick layer of powder on it.
4. After the flock has been applied, the hand must be placed in the lamp for 1 minute to dry the coating.
5. After 60 seconds, the hand is removed from the lamp and with a brush, all the remains of the flock that have not adhered are swept away.

Velvet manicure usually does not require special additions, especially on short nails, so it is enough just to cover all nails with an even layer with a flock. An interesting option is a velvet pattern. In this case, it is most convenient to resort to stamping technology.

To do this, after staining the nail in the main color using stamping, a pattern is applied on top with a varnish similar in color to the color of velvet sand. While the varnish is damp, sprinkle it with flock on top.

Ombre

Ombre manicure is a 2 or 3 color coating, where one color smoothly passes into another. Colors can be different, it is not necessary to use shades of the same color. To give the ombre effect, you need a narrow sponge, equal in width to the nail plate.

After processing the nail and covering it with a base, you can start painting:

1. The nail is covered with the color that will be at the cuticle and dried.
2. A second varnish is applied to the sponge and pressed against the second half of the nail.
3. Using a sponge, they distribute the color over the nail plate, creating a gradient with a transition between shades.
4. Seal the cover with a top.

To make nails look longer, it is recommended to shift the border of colors from the center closer to the edge or to the cuticle. The most advantageous option is a gradient with a color transition from one side roller to another.

With dots

For a manicure on very short nails in the form of dots, you will need a tool called a dots (dotter). It is a stick with two round tips of different sizes.

To make such a manicure, you need:

1. Cover the nails with a base, dry it.
2. Apply 2-3 coats of colored gel polish to nails for maximum color density.
3. On foil or other glossy surface, drip gel polish of the color that the dots should be. If the colors of the dots should be of different shades, then make the drops with the necessary gel polishes.
4. Dip dots in gel polish and put dots where you want.
5. After the design is completed, a top is applied over the pattern, sealing all ends for greater strength.

Points can be located:

• at the edge of the nail plate, located more tightly at the free end;
• staggered over the entire surface;
• at the cuticle, creating an imitation of a moon manicure;
• diagonally.

It is recommended to paint small dots on short nails.

Matt

Manicure for very short nails in a matte version is as easy as normal. To do this, you need to purchase a matte transparent top.

Sequence:

1. Cover the nails with a base, place the hand in the lamp for 30-60 seconds.
2. Apply color to nails in 2-3 layers, dry each layer.
3. Cover the nails with a matte transparent top, re-place the hand in the lamp and wait another 2 minutes.

On short nails, a matte manicure looks good:

• with a glossy smile in the same tone;
• with velvet sand, pattern or glitter on the ring finger;
• with rhinestones at the base of the nail.

With rhinestones

A manicure with rhinestones can be done not only on a plain cover, but also on a cover with a moon, French design, ombre and others.

How to do:

1. First of all, you need to cover your nails with a transparent base, then place your hand in the lamp so that the gel polish dries.
